Infiniti Q50 Rear Splash Guard Installation

Instruction covers RWD and AWD Q50's.

The following instructions are a walk through for installing rear splash guards on a Infiniti Q50.

Special Thanks goes out to Mike at www.TunerzStore.com for his support of the project!

Parts Supplied By:

infiniti Q50 splash guards
Tools needed:Phillips screw driver, drill with 1/8" and 1/4" bits, ratchet with 10mm socket, jack, cleaner (mild soap, alcohol), lint free cloth (microfiber), painters or masking tape, pick or punch

The splash guards for this project were OEM Infiniti products ordered through Tunerzstore.com. They are pre-painted to match the body color, the guards are nicely wrapped in a protective cloth-like covering, and there is a notice included which points you to the installation guide, which you can view here: Infiniti Rear Splash Guard Install Guide.

Prior to physically applying the guards you will want to clean the area for proper adhesion

Step 1. The kit came with a sheet of templates that need to be cut out and taped together as shown. The outcome is also pictured to the left.

Mounting clips (spring nuts) and phillips screws are also included in the kit

Step 2. Use the jack and lift up the car so you can access the lower mounting locations. For ease and safety I used jack stands as you will have your head underneath the rear section.

Using the ratchet and 10mm socket remove the bolt from under the fender as shown in the second image. Set the bolt aside.

Step 3. Before continuing, clean the area to remove all wax and dirt. Make sure to get under the side lip and the areas are dry.

Starting with the drivers side, put tape on each of the template (B LH) tabs and install on the vehicle as pictured to the left. The tabs fold under the lip to position the template. Use additional tape to flaten out the template as shown in the second picture.

Step 4. Put tape on each of the template (A LH) tabs, fold on the line, and install on the vehicle as pictured to the left. The tabs fold around the lip to position the template. Use additional tape to flaten out the template.

Step 5. Use the punch or pick or whatever sharp instrument you have and mark the hole locations based upon the templates. For this process I used a pick and was able to easily push the pick through the bumper material. When done, remove templates.

Step 6. Drill 1/4" holes where you marked the holes from the templates. The Intiniti instructions suggest stepping from 1/8" to 1/4" but I went straight to 1/4" with no problems.

Replace the 10mm bolt into the bottom of the fender.

Step 7. Install the kit-supplied spring nuts over the holes

Step 8. On the back of the guard the tape sections have excess yellow film which will allow removal when mounted. These tabs need to be folded to the front and taped down as shown.

Step 9. Starting with the front fender mounts, attach the guard loosely at first usign the supplied phillips screws. Once all screws are installed pull the guard from the bottom as shown in the second image and tighten the #2 screw as shown. Ensure the guard is properly aligned down the body and proceed to tighten the bottom screws (34-39 in-lb); leave the top front fender screw slightly loose.

Step 10. Start removing the yellow film from the backing tape via the top.

Step 11. Using the microfiber towel, press and rub the sections with appx 15lb of force to help adhere the tape to the body.

Tighten the final top-front screw.

Time and Difficulty. Total time for installing the rear guards was appx 1 hour as I was taking pictures and not in any rush. On a scale of 1-5 I would rate this install a 1.5 (easy).
